Inlays and onlays are typically made from composite resin so that they can be colour-matched to your natural teeth. However, they can also be made from gold. Your dentist at Thurloe Street Dental and Implant Centre will advise on the best option for you.
Traditionally, these restorations are used towards the back of the mouth. An inlay is cemented to the tooth in between the four corners or cusps of a tooth. An onlay is placed to overlap the cusps.
The affected tooth will be prepared for treatment and your dentist will then take impressions of your teeth. The inlay or onlay you require will be made for you at our laboratory.
At your next visit, the inlay or onlay is ready to be affixed to the tooth.
These dental restorations are extremely resilient and can last for many years when cared for properly.
